Best Job in the World

Or, why I love practicing massage therapy.

People almost always get up off my table happier than when they came in. I am fed by that calm, refreshed energy on a daily basis. In a culture where we love to live vicariously, this is my ultimate.

I get to put my mind into the present for the day. Whatever stressors I have in my own life, I can always set them aside to treat the other person. Massage requires that I do this, but I feel lucky to be in a profession which also supports the necessity.

Finally, I get to connect with people in a way few can. I see and feel signs in the body of what someone has dealt with in life, what’s troubling them in the present. Over repeated visits, I watch clients become more comfortable sharing their lives.

I am so honored to be able to provide a safe place for self expression and change that I have found myself expressing silent gratitude as I end each session. Thank you for giving me a job I love.
